AFES Protects Troop Compartment of Oshkosh M-ATV Vehicles»

AFES protects against combat-initiated and slow-growth fires featuring high-speed optical detection in less than 3 milliseconds and ultra fast extinguishing agent discharge and unique 360 degree dispersion.

Detectors

The Spectrex UV/IR optical detector is the latest model that has been installed and performance tested in the BAE Bradley Fighting Vehicle and in RG33 MRAP. IR3 optical detectors are now available for engine compartments.

Controllers

The unit is microcontroller based enabling flexibility in system design and the adjustment of features to a specific application. RS-485 communication provides outputs for control, set up, maintenance and diagnostics.

Extinguishers

Environmentally friendly fire extinguishing agents are rapidly and effectively discharged from pressurized cylinders providing homogeneous total flooding of the protected volume. Cylinders are available in various capacities, conform to either DOT or EU standards, include safety devices such as safety relief valve and anti recoil device.

Test Kit

The test kit is used in order to check proper installation and operation of the fire suppression system and is used also during periodic maintenance.
