SKARV Oil & Gas FPSO

More than 250 SharpEye 40/40I Flame Detectors were supplied to the SKARV Oil & Gas FPSO and field development project.

The Skarv oil and gas field was discovered in 1998 and is operated by BP (30%) on behalf of Statoil (30%), Norske Shell (25%) and ExxonMobil (15%). Similar to other previous projects in the North Sea that selected the Sharpeye Optical Flame Detectors and the SafEye Optical Open Path Gas Detectors, the current project is using the most durable and weather resistant 40/40I Optical Flame Detectors. The 40/40I new features include a heated window, to eliminate condensation and icing; HART capabilities for digital communications; lower power requirements; and a compact, lighter design.
