Flame Detectors with Higher Quality and Performance

Spectrex’s new explosion-proof SharpEye 40/40 Optical Flame Detectors provide higher performance and reliability for high-value high-risk industries.

The new SharpEye 40/40 Series Flame Detectors offer enhanced reliability and durability in a substantially lighter and more compact, ex-proof housing, requiring lower power consumption when compared to standard ex-proof optical flame detectors on the market. The SharpEye 40/40 series meets and exceeds customer needs and does not require a separate junction box since all the user wiring connections have been segregated from the electronics in the detector housing.

All SharpEye 40/40 detectors are fitted with heated windows to withstand the harshest of conditions, and HART output to offer quality information during installation or maintenance. Most have an enhanced detection distance and larger field of view than before, as well as an extended operating temperature range.

The 40/40 series includes the well-known Triple IR (IR3) detector as well as the new Multi IR type, along with the traditional UV/IR, Single IR and UV models using different spectral ranges.

All these detectors are Hazardous Area approved (FM, ATEX, IECEx, CSA and more) for location in zone I areas and 3rd party performance approved (EN54-10, FM, DNV). Because of the detectors’ increased reliability, the 40/40 series warranty has been extended to 5 years and it is certified to the IEC 61508 safety integrity requirements of SIL 2.
