Since 2007, Spectrex has been involved in fire protecting the new EnCana headquarters – The BOW building in downtown Calgary, Canada.

For approximately four years, we have been working with Northrop Grumman on a Coast Guard Program at the Bollinger Ship Yard to modify existing ships, each engine room being protected by 20/20MI Mini Optical Flame Detectors.

A 15 year old SharpEye 20/20I (IR3) Optical Flame Detector that was installed in a harsh environment was recently returned to Spectrex for inspection and service. The detector was firstly cleaned, and then functionally tested and was in perfect working condition and fit to be returned to service in the field.

Spectrex has upgraded the ATEX and IECEx hazardous area approvals on the complete 40/40 Flame Detector range from gas group IIB+H2 to gas group IIC. No additional testing was needed by the approval body (Sira).
